As if yesterday’s news of the passing of George Michael wasn’t sad enough, today the Star Wars community is in mourning for the passing of Carrie Fisher. Carrie’s iconic role as Princess Leia in Star Wars propelled her into the stratosphere of popular culture and despite her personal struggles through her life she remained our Princess.

Yes I’m in an Obi-Wan frame of mind right now. I was hoping for some good news when they said that she was stable but seriously ill. Hearing that she had finished shooting her scenes in the next instalment of the Disney franchise will be something of a bittersweet moment for us fans.

Farewell Carrie and thank you for the memories. Luminous being are we, not this crude matter… The force will be with you always…

It is often said that the hardest thing a parent can do is to outlive their child. This morning it was announced that Debbie Reynolds had been taken ill while planning her daughter’s funeral and suffered a fatal stroke. Her last words were “I want to be with Carrie”. I hope that there is an alternate existence for the human consciousness so that they can be reunited with all those who have passed beyond the veil…
